PREPARATIONS: Prempro is available as tablets in dispenser packs containing a 28 day supply of medication. It comes in tablets containing 0.625mg conjugated estrogens and either 2.5 mg or 5mg of medroxyprogesterone. Premphase is available in cartons, each containing 2 blister cards. One blister card contains 14 maroon tablets. Each tablet contains 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogens. The second blister card consists of 14 light- blue tablets. Each contains 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogens plus 5 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate.
STORAGE: Tablets should be stored between 15°C (59F) and 25°C (77°F).
PRESCRIBED FOR: Prempro and Premphase are prescribed for treatment of the usual symptoms associated with menopause (hot flashes, vaginal dryness), prevention of bone fractures associated with osteoporosis , and dysfunctional (excessive and painful) uterine bleeding.
DOSING: Prempro generally is prescribed once daily. With Premphase, one maroon tablet should be taken daily on days 1 through 14 and then one light-blue tablet should be taken daily on days 15 through 28. This should be repeated in cycles every 28 days.

PREGNANCY: Estrogens should not be taken during pregnancy due to an increased risk of fetal abnormalities.
NURSING MOTHERS: Estrogens are secreted in milk and cause unpredictable effects in the infant. They should not be taken during breast-feeding.
