GENERIC NAME: clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate

BRAND NAME: Lotrisone

DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Lotrisone is a combination cream consisting of an anti-fungal medication, clotrimazole , and an anti-inflammatory medication, betamethasone dipropionate . For treating fungal infections it is used topically on the skin, inserted vaginally or allowed to dissolve in the mouth.

PREPARATIONS: Cream

STORAGE: Cream should be kept between 2° and 30 °C (36-86°F).

PRESCRIBED FOR: Lotrisone is used for the treatment of local fungal infections with tinea pedis ("athlete's foot"), tinea cruris ("jock itch "), or tinea corporis. Infections that are treated with the combination product, Lotrisone, have a better response than patients treated with either betamethasone dipropionate or clotrimazole alone.

DOSING: Lotrisone cream is applied gently to the affected and surrounding skin areas, generally twice daily, morning and evening.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: There are no known drug interactions with topical clotrimazole.

PREGNANCY: This is a combination drug. Please see clotrimazole (Lotrimin) and betamethasone dipropionate (Diprosone) .

NURSING MOTHERS: This is a combination drug. Please see clotrimazole (Lotrimin) and betamethasone dipropionate (Diprosone) .
