Chromatin: The nucleoprotein material of chromosomes. Chromatin is essentially the substance of chromosomes . It is made up of DNA attached to a protein structure, together with chromosomal RNA . Chromatin exists in two states, euchromatin and heterochromatin , with different staining and functional properties.
