ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists): The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is an organization concerned with the quality of OB/Gyn practice in the U.S. It is called "a cog."
The members of ACOG are " Women's Health Care Physicians." ACOG is (in their own words) "the nation's leading group of professionals providing health care for women. As a private, voluntary, nonprofit organization, ACOG: - Serves as a strong advocate for quality health care for women.
- Maintains the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education of its members.
- Promotes patient education and stimulating patient understanding of, and involvement in, medical care.
- Increases awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues facing women's health care."
